America250 is a multiyear effort to celebrate the semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of our country. On July 4, 2026, communities nationwide will commemorate 250 years of American independence.

"The United States Semiquincentennial Commission was established by Public Law 114-196. The purpose of the Commission and the corresponding America250 Foundation is to design and lead the most comprehensive and inclusive celebration in our country’s history. It represents a coalition of public and private partners all working to create initiatives and programs that honor our first 250 years and inspire Americans to imagine our next 250. The commemoration period began in 2020, culminates on July 4, 2026, and officially concludes in 2027."
In June 2021, Rhode Island created a 30 member Semiquincentennial Commission to assist in this observance.
